USA School Lunch - Chicken Nuggets and Mashed Potatoes

Contents: A roll, some salad with ranch dressing, chocolate milk, mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets and ketchup.

Submitted by: Yeah, you do get all the food groups. But they are all just about the least healthy options from each group. But delicious!

South Korea School Lunch - Cucumber Salad and Ton Cas

Country: South Korea

Contents: Rice, turnips (variation of kimchi), cucumber salad, ton cas (breaded pork) with barbeque sauce.

Philippines School Lunch - Lechón kawali and Rice

Notes: Lechón kawali involves boiling the processed meat, and then frying the pieces of pork in a pan.

South Korea School Lunch - Rice and Mackerel

Notes: Eating rice with chopsticks is no easy task, to someone without much practice.

Tanzania School Lunch - Ugali and Chicken

Country: Tanzania

Contents: Ugali, chicken, greens, dipping sauce, watermelon salad.

Notes: The ugali is the white mound, that looks like mashed potatoes. Ugali is a Swahili word for an East African dish which is a cornmeal product and a staple starch component of many African meals. It is commonly made from maize flour and water, and varies in consistency from porridge to a dough-like substance.

Also, based on the nice plates, I would assume this is a very nice, very expensive private school.

South Korea School Lunch - Rice and Bulgogi

Country: South Korea

Contents: Rice, bulgogi (marinated beef, mushrooms, and onions), a jello-like substance made with acorn flour, marinated greens and turnips.

Notes: The jello substance made with acorn flour seems a little strange to me. Can anyone describe it's taste?

Taiwan School Lunch - Soup and Rice

Country: Taiwan

Contents: Chicken soup boiled with beef meat balls, salad, rice, greens, fried meat (fish perhaps)
Notes: Not huge portions, but healthy and probably enough. Soup looks a little bland. What is it called? Is it any good?

Russia School Lunch - "Sardine Under Fur Coat"

Country: Russia (Saint-Petersburg - Art School)

Contents: "Sardine under fur coat," made from: sardines, boiled potatoes, boiled beet, fresh onion, some cheese, and parsley. In the far side of the picture you can see a vegetable salad, ingredients are: cabbage, carrot, parsley and salt).

Notes: Notice the prices by the food. Students pay for the food at this art school.

Russia School Lunch - Boiled Buckwheat and Podliva

Country: Russia (Serpuhov, Serpuhovskoy Military Institute of Rocket Army)

Contents: Boiled buckwheat (aluminium bowl in the middle). Sugar (in the dish near the bowl closer to us). Podliva (in a dish near the bowl further from us). Poldiva is sort of like gravy. It's ingredients are: a) water b) fat c) 4-10 little pieces of canned stewed meat. One egg per person. Tea. Butter (on the right in the "triangle"). White bread. Black bread. Soup.

Russia School Lunch

Notes: Looks pretty good to me. All items you would find in the USA as well, though not always in a school lunch.

USA School Lunch - Beef Pot Pie and Peas

Contents: Peas, mashed potatoes, cake with sprinkles, a biscuit and beef pot pie.

Notes: Oh my this looks awful. The only thing that might be any good is the biscuit.
