Various school lunches from around the world. School lunch doesn't really represent the best a country has to offer, but we still love it, because we grew up on it.
India School Lunch - Pullihara and Chapati
Country: India
Contents: Pullihara (or possibly bund gobi aur matar) and chapati (or possibly poppadums, or naan)
Source: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Vrindavan_SMS-518.jpg
Notes: They seem pretty happy, so it must be pretty tasty. Any thoughts on what they might be eating?
Thanks for help in identifying their lunch!

It's very hard to tell, but I'd guess the yellow stuff is either something like pullihara (kind of like fried rice - http://www.flickr.com/photos/sreelus/4270197485/) or maybe Bund gobi aur matar (curried cabbage and peas - http://indian-cooking-recipe-reviews.blogspot.com/2008/01/cabbage-with-peas-bund-gobi-aur-matar.html )
ReplyDeleteThe beige things could be chapati, poppadums, or naan. I'd guess chapatis.
I'd be happy with a lunch like that - pullihara is awesome.
