USA School Lunch - Taco Chips and an Apple

Country: USA (Bronx, NY)

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: How incredibly void of substance this lunch is, saved only by the apple. I mean look, there are three strips of cheese, and a teaspoon of salsa. How depressing.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Not very good for you, but delicious.

USA School Lunch - Spaghetti and Fruit Cocktail

Country: USA

Contents: Spaghetti, chocolate chip cookie, fruit cocktail, slice of French bread, milk.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Getting all your food groups, but there are definitely better alternatives to fruit cocktail. Also, where is the garlic butter for the bread. That's sacrilege.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Healthy? No. Delicious? Yes.

USA School Breakfast - Eggo Waffle Cereal and Orange Juice

Country: USA

Contents: Eggo Waffle cereal, giant graham cracker Goldfish, orange juice, milk.

Notes: Cereal is perhaps the most common breakfast eaten in the USA. That particular cereal doesn't look to healthy though, as far as sugar content is concerned.

USA School Lunch - BBQ Sandwich and Baked Beans

Country: USA

Contents: A partly eaten BBQ sandwich, potato chips, baked beans, and peach cobbler.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: The term BBQ is used loosely here.

USA School Lunch - French Bread Pizza

Country: USA

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Notice how the student is passing by the veggies.

USA School Lunch - Penne with Meat Sauce

Country: USA (Brooklyn, NY)

Contents: Penne with meat sauce, carrots, cauliflower, and pears.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: What a gross lunch, a little of it.

USA School Lunch - Chicken Fingers and French Fries

Country: USA

Contents: Chicken fingers, french fries, ketchup, clementine, chocolate milk

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Pretty typical, though something like this would usually come with a roll, to provide some grains.

Japan School Lunch - Spaghetti and Fries

Country: Japan

Contents: Spaghetti, orange, french fries, milk.

Source: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chidorian/106713617/

Gambia School Lunch - Rice

Country: Gambia (City of Brikama)

Contents: Rice. It looks like there might be more there, in the bowl, I just can't make it out.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Sad that they all have to share, can't be very sanitary either. Still, I'm sure they are the lucky ones, where many can't afford school.

Germany School Lunch - Pasta and Fruit Salad

Country: Germany (Technische Universität Berlin)

Contents: It's pasta (spinach tagliatelle) with tomato sauce and olives, wholegrain bread, salad, vegetables, fruit salad and vanilla ice cream.

Cambodia School Lunch - Rice

Country: Cambodia

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Filling? Sure. But it doesn't look too nutritious.

USA School Lunch - Soup and Sandwich

Country: USA

Contents: Vegetable and beef soup, celery stick, peanut butter, pear pieces, milk, half a grilled cheese sandwich, and cookies.

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Looks a little skimpy. There is hardly any soup. One piece of celery? Come on.

Chile School Lunch - Beef and Rice

Country: Chile

Contents: rice, fries, beef, a roll, cabbage salad (?), avocado, apricot, lemon wedge, orange juice, fruit with yogurt (?)

Submitted by: Anonymous

Notes: Oh my that looks delicious. How much would a meal like this cost? Is it typical of Chilean school lunches? Based on the insignia on the boys jacket, and the nice plates and bowl, I would assume this is a private school.

Russia School Lunch - Pizza and Meat Pies

Country: Russia (Saint-Petersburg - Art School)

Contents: There are several lunch items for sale here: small pie with meat, a small pizza, and something called "sausage in dough."

Submitted by: Darya

Notes: Those all seem like items you would find in the USA as well. They are sort of like calzones or pot pies, pizza is the same, and the last item is like "pigs in a blanket."

South Korea School Lunch - Omelet and Tuna Salad

Country: South Korea

Contents: Rice, omelet with ketchup, kimchi, salad of tuna, corn, onions, eggs, and cucumbers.

Submitted by: Charity W.

Notes: There are people that put ketchup on eggs in the USA, but I wouldn't call it a common practice.
