Notes:Елена states that his is from her son's school, in Russia. Pelmeni are dumplings consisting of a filling wrapped in thin, unleavened dough.The filling can be minced meat (pork, lamb, beef, or any other kind of meat), fish, or mushrooms. The mixing together of different kinds of meat is also popular.

Russia School Lunch - Pizza and Meat Pies

Contents: There are several lunch items for sale here: small pie with meat, a small pizza, and something called "sausage in dough."

Notes: Those all seem like items you would find in the USA as well. They are sort of like calzones or pot pies, pizza is the same, and the last item is like "pigs in a blanket."

Russia School Lunch - "Sardine Under Fur Coat"



Country: Russia (Saint-Petersburg - Art School)

Contents: "Sardine under fur coat," made from: sardines, boiled potatoes, boiled beet, fresh onion, some cheese, and parsley. In the far side of the picture you can see a vegetable salad, ingredients are: cabbage, carrot, parsley and salt).

Russia School Lunch - Boiled Buckwheat and Podliva



Country: Russia (Serpuhov, Serpuhovskoy Military Institute of Rocket Army)

Contents: Boiled buckwheat (aluminium bowl in the middle). Sugar (in the dish near the bowl closer to us). Podliva (in a dish near the bowl further from us). Poldiva is sort of like gravy. It's ingredients are: a) water b) fat c) 4-10 little pieces of canned stewed meat. One egg per person. Tea. Butter (on the right in the "triangle"). White bread. Black bread. Soup.

Notes: Although not technically a school, lots of these soldiers are school aged kids.

Contents: Orange juice, baked pudding, salad with cheese, ham and mushrooms, coleslaw and apple, mashed potatoes, cranberry juice.

Notes: Looks pretty good to me. All items you would find in the USA as well, though not always in a school lunch.
